No. 2
1960s
Italian architect Gio Ponti (1891-1979) was a visionary designer known for his innovative work in architecture, furniture, and decorative arts. Renowned for iconic pieces like the Superleggera chair and the Pirelli Tower, Ponti's designs pushed the boundaries of Italian and global design.
While often dealing with mundane topics, his letters to publisher Daria Guarnati reveal his enchanting perspective on the ordinary.
In this letter, now part of the Drawing Matter collection, Ponti playfully arranges his words as flowers in a vase. The vase, sketched with a draftsman's precision, perfectly captures the mid-century modern style he was famous for.
“There is an undeniable aesthetic in these letters - a joy that comes not from the words, but the beauty of the sinuous, looping line. “ Niall Hobhouse, founder of Drawing Matter.
The original work is held by Drawing Matter, an organisation that explores the role of drawing in architectural thought and practice. We have collaborated with them to bring highlights from their extraordinary collection to a wider audience. Explore Drawing Matter here.

Our frames are fitted with an FSC timber sub-frame, providing stability and longevity to the outer frame and glass.
Your frame is designed to be hung using the split batten method (hanging guide here). This enables your frame to sit flush against the wall. If you would prefer the more traditional option of D-rings and picture wire instead, please leave a note for us at the cart when you place the order.
